HOW TO COOK A STEAK AT HOME?

DSC09270

IT'S EASIER THAN YOU THINK

A great steak doesn’t like to be rushed. And it definitely doesn’t like being overcomplicated.

If you’ve already picked up a Daily Dose steak, you’re halfway there. All that’s left is to cook it right. Trust us – it’s easier than you think.

Before You Start

  • Don’t throw your steak straight from the fridge onto the pan.
  • Take it out of the vacuum pack about 30 minutes before cooking and let it come to room temperature.
  • Then pat it dry with paper towels. A perfect crust loves high heat, not excess moisture.
  • From there, keep it simple: a little olive oil, salt, and pepper. No need for a dozen spices. Great meat doesn’t need them.

Cooking on a Pan

  • First, get your pan really hot. Not warm. Not just hot. Really hot.
  • Place the steak on the pan and leave it alone for the first few minutes. That’s how you get the golden crust everyone loves.
  • Flip it over, add butter, a clove of garlic, and a sprig of rosemary. Baste the steak with the melted butter for a few more minutes to build even more flavour.
  • And here’s the most important part: don’t cut into it right away.
  • Let it rest for 5 minutes. Seriously. Those five minutes are what keep all the juices where they belong.

Cooking on the Grill

  • It’s even easier.
  • Preheat your grill until it’s nice and hot, then place the steak on the grates.
  • Cook for a few minutes on each side, turning it only when it naturally releases from the grill. Finish with a little herb butter, let it rest for a few minutes, and it’s ready to serve.
